WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO A DEEP DIVE INTO COMMUNICATION STYLES?

A Case Study on Facilitation, DISC Method, and Collaborative Success

OVERVIEW
Brumbaugh Construction and LWC incorporated recognized an opportunity to smooth their joint work on a project with the City of Centerville. They engaged Lois Elrich of Real Change Business Coaching to lead a workshop that helped them dig deeper into their own communication styles and learn to collaborate and communicate more effectively – and ultimately avoid pitfalls that could slow or derail the project.

IMPACTFUL RESULTS
• Improved Understanding: Participants gained a deeper understanding of their communication styles and their colleagues, leading to increased empathy and more effective collaboration.
• Practical Application: Post-workshop, the teams regularly discussed
DISC concepts, applying them in meetings and interactions with engineers, clients, inspection agencies, and subcontractors.
• Conflict Resolution: Enhanced awareness of communication styles aided in resolving conflicts and misunderstandings.
• Cultural Shift: There was a shift towards a more compassionate and understanding workplace culture, focusing on the substance of communication rather than the style.

“The golden rule does’t apply when it comes to communicating: people receive and interpret messages differently.
The DISC model reveals the most effective way to get your messages heard.”
